2 weeks..

As most of you know, I will be studying at Karlstad University in Sweden this spring! For those of you who don't know, well, now you do. The main reason I am writing this blog is so my family and friends back home can see what I am up to while I am gone. I am also writing for people I don't know. When I was trying to figure out where I wanted to study abroad and at what university, I read a ton of blogs. I wanted to see pictures, read about experiences, and so on. Who knows, maybe this will help someone out in the future!

Anyways, to give you a brief glance at where I will be spending the next 7 months of my life, just take a look at the map. My study abroad program (ISEP) gave a good description about the town. "Karlstad lies at the heart of Scandinavia with Gothenburg, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo within easy reach. It offers the pleasures of a small town and yet is close to the big city. Charles IX (Karl) granted the town its municipal charter in 1584, and since then Karlstad has become a cultural and commercial center, an important industrial city, and an administrative capital. Karlstad has a lot to offer, from outdoor activities and sports to culture and entertainment. The winter is ideal for cross-country skiing and the summer, for sailboarding and canoeing. Sunne Ski Centre, about one hour from Karlstad, has a number of fine downhill and slalom pistes. Plays, operas and ballets are performed at the beautiful old theatre. The city boasts several art galleries and museums, and, cinemas, restaurants and places to dance."
That wraps it up for now. My next post will probably be coming for Sweden. I am going to try really hard to keep this blog up to date, but no guarantees!
